SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general direction from the Manager of Enterprise Information Technologies, the "Sr Database Administrator - IS Enterprise Infr Tech" role is responsible for building transactional databases platforms and operational database support for the organization.
Position requires skills and experience in both Oracle and SQL Server database technologies. Candidate should be solution-driven, possess excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, be very thorough, detail-oriented and provide high-quality deliverables. Candidate should be self-motivated and work independently at a high level under direction from leadership. Candidate should also be able to provide direction and mentor junior DBA staff.
Desired DBA for this position will have proven experience with installs, maintenance, configuration, performance tuning, patching, backup and recovery of database instances for Oracle and SQL Server. Will also have relevant experience with database tools, products and features including OEM, RMAN, DataGuard, Transparent Data Encryption, TOAD, SQL Profiler, Always On and Replication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Apply database architecture using conceptual, logical, and physical designs to provide services to the organization
Monitor database systems to ensure the enterprise functionality of the database and the availability of system data
Identify actual and potential database problems and recommend and/or implement solutions
Migrate database objects from test to production environments within predefined time frames
Review hardware and network changes, which might affect the database
Work with technical support personnel and software/hardware vendors with installation, maintenance support, software interface requirements and problem determinations and resolution
Make recommendations to management on database software/hardware acquisitions and/or updates
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior DBA staff and other teams on a variety of subjects
Conduct database analysis to determine the areas that will require performance and tuning.
Establish a method for monitoring and tuning the database and its utilities, as needed
Provide robust and scalable database solutions for the organization
Responsible for planning, implementing and participating in both on and off site backup, recovery, and testing drills
Maintain extensive knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and apply pertinent new knowledge to optimize our database environment
Provide capacity, availability, and service continuity management to new and existing services for high availability
Implementation of IT best practices and project management in a dynamic, complex environment
Provides direct oversight and in-depth consultation for leaders or multiple projects
Responsible and accountable to comply with cyber security policies, standards, and processes in accordance with the Enterprise Cyber Security Program Plan.
Formally document, design, manage, and/or operate in accordance with cyber security requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
4 years of related experience required
